We sang this song by Todd Fields called
"Let me Sing" in church on Sunday and all my walls crumbled as I spoke the words as worship. At first I was struck by the idea of shining brighter than the stars in the sky...wow. How beautiful that sight must be all glittery and sparkling all for God's glory. And then I was struck by the idea of proclaiming him through the course of my boring every day life...in every moment,....Yes, EVERY moment. Even the smallest most insignificant things can be done to proclaim him...Boy do I have a long way to go in this area. I get caught up with the best of them thinking that He only desires the "really big important" stuff and forget he's also concerned with the small stuff... Whether it's bending over to help a student, grading papers, smiling at a kid, writing lesson plans, cooking myself a healthy dinner, excercising, taking a long walk at night....yes, EVERY action can proclaim Him....and he desires it.
(I have been trying to post a youtube clip but it's not letting me do it and I'm honestly too tired to figure it out right now so you'll have to hop on over to youtube yourself and check it out. Hopefully you'll go to Itunes and snag a copy of the song for $.99 like I did after Sunday. )
Let me sing for the mercy you've given
undeserving and broken am I
Though I've turned away
your faithfulness remains
Let me live in the light of forever
as I walk through the course of my days
and join to proclaim with all of the saints
the only worthy name
Let me sing
louder than creation to you
for the pain you bore in your body
to bring my soul to you
Let me shine
brighter than the stars in the sky
an offering of praise all my life
to you my Holy King
let me sing
